Fall + Winter 2018 Style Forecast from MAGIC Las Vegas

Hey there beautiful babes! I just arrived home from shopping for my boutique at MAGIC in Las Vegas – the biggest fashion market for retailers in the U.S.! It only happens twice a year, and thousands of boutique owners and buyers show up to scope out and stock up on the current trends for the upcoming season.

Here’s what I saw trending at MAGIC for fall and winter 2018, from the fashion designers and also based on what alllll of the boutique/retail owners were wearing while shopping! It’s so fun to have this window into the current and near future of the fashion world!

These are some photos I snapped while shopping. Not great quality (I didn’t realize I was going to write a blog post on this while I was snapping away), but a fun peek at these trends and some sneak peeks of things that will come to Blooming Cactus Boutique this fall and winter!

Trend #1: Layers, Layers, Layers

Everything looks cuter in layers… you could wear just a sweater when it’s cool out. ORRR YOU COULD pair a cute tank top/cami with a chunky cardigan or an oversized top over it. Or pair a sleeveless dress with a cardigan or jean jacket. Putting together the right layers is a perfect way to combine colors or patterns for some major WOW factor!

Bralette + cami tank + duster cardigan = the perfect layers for a trendy look this fall! You will be seeing similar pieces on the Blooming Cactus Boutique site soon!

V-neck sweater plus lace bralette is the perfect layering opportunity! And how pretty is this color?!

Trend # 2: Bold Stripes

Vertical stripes on everything. Especially in bold colors. So many of the beautiful ladies shopping at this market were rocking colorful bold stripes, especially on jumpsuits, dresses, and pants.

I didn't happen to snap a great pic on a person or mannequin of the bold stripe trend... so you'll have to take my word for it. Rugby stripes (thick horizontal stripes) also seemed to be trending on sweaters for the fall. I didn’t snap a pic but you will see this on some Blooming Cactus Boutique sweaters coming soon!

Trend #3: Jumpsuits

It seemed like at least one in every three people shopping at MAGIC was wearing a killer JUMPSUIT! So get ready… jumpsuits are here to stay and are out in full force for fall too! I’m totally digging this trend!

Gorgeous floral jumpsuit for fall! This is one of the shades of teal that is trending this year (see color report at the end of this post!). The floral is so pretty! Layer a fitted white tee under sleeveless jumpsuits for cooler temps. 😉

Trend #4: Wrap tops, Wrap dresses, Wrap jumpsuits, Wrap everything.

This is awesome news for nursing mamas (and for everyone really!)… wrap tops were all.over.the.place. And they look so amazing! Sooo many dresses with a wrap top. Soooo many jumpsuits with a wrap top. Sooo many long-sleeve wrap tops. This look goes perfect with the layering trend discussed above because the deep v-neck creates a blank space to be filled in with a tank, cami, or bralette underneath.

Trend #5: New Waffle Knit

I don’t have many pics of it… but I do have lots of it coming to the shop soon! 😉 Super soft waffle-knit was ALL OVER the place in every brand! And we are not talking about your Dad’s long underwear type of fabric. This new waffle knit has bigger squares, is so soft, and is soooo cozy!

Trend #6: Buttons on Everything

This trend has been going all year and is continuing into fall and winter… because it’s awesome! Everything has buttons on it. Large buttons, small buttons. Real buttons, decorative buttons. They are all over dresses, sweaters, tops, pants. Here’s just a few examples of it.

Trend #7: LACE!

So.much.pretty.lace. Not your grandma’s lace either. Crochet lace and beautiful embroidered lace. Nice thick quality. Lace kimonos, lace dresses, and lace embellishment on tops and dresses. So pretty!

Trend #8: Oversized Everything + Chunky Sweaters

Oversized isn’t new. Last fall & winter oversized & off-the-shoulder was in. And the trend continued through spring and summer. Well folks, it’s still here for winter 2018 and it’s so cozy!

Color Report!

Get ready to see lots of these beautiful fall colors: burnt orange, mustard, and rust. Lots of different shades of teal as well. The teal actually looks beautiful alongside the rusty fall hues! There was still a bit of the trusty olive color as well! I am obsessed with this color pallete for fall!
